TESTRUN MEME

1) New Years Celebration! There are fireworks all over the city! And that means your Pokémon are probably hiding under the bed. No matter how big they are. What do?

2) There's been some heavy snowfall and the connecting bridges are overloaded. They're really slick and icy and need to be plowed for safety. You and your Pokémon have been selected for this "honor". Have fun!

3) With the winter coming, the Hot Springs have been overwhelmed by an abundance of monkey Pokémon. They've been attacking citizens who are trying to soak in the pools and it's creating a big problem. Go resolve it!

4) Caldera has been working on a project to restore some of their fortifications, and that means they need strong trainers and Pokémon to help carry and work the stone and metal. Time to help out!

5) The Tropical Island has become something of a destination in the wintertime, and it's getting really crowded. Some Pokémon researchers need to conduct studies on the volcano but the throng of tourists is simply too much. Help clear a path!

[Not content to merely help fix Caldera's defenses, Gil has taken it upon himself to IMPROVE them! As such, he's got a couple of other workers browbeaten into standing around a folding table with a set of blueprints on them.]

...and I should be able to get the parts for the amplifiers for this whole stretch of wall done by Tuesday, so if we install them as we go, then by this time next week the whole wall be converted! Any attacking force would be surprised to learn that knocking down the wall will reveal the inner components and transform the whole area into an impromptu LIGHTNING MOAT! They'd all cook where they stood!! THEY'LL NEVER SEE IT COMING!!

[Maniacal laughter feels imminent. Someone calm him down.]

[While on a routine visit to Gil's workshop, there was a sudden crashing noise behind you. The source of the noise appears to be a tiny one eyed...creature in a towering mechanical suit of some kind labeled "ARTHROPODS RULE!" that is tottering towards you alarmingly with snapping pincers. The noise grabbed Gil's attention.]

The lightning moat is a perfectly valid defensive strategy. Once you activate it no one would be stupid enough to attack you by land.

I have half a dozen defensive plans for the sky, of varying levels of lethality that I could probably whip up. I think my favorite one is the sentient acid clouds.

Do I even want to ask how you expect to make an acid cloud sentient?

It's very technical, but very elegant and economical.

I don't think it's practical, though, because by my calculations there's a small chance that the clouds would lose the ability to tell friend from foe and attack everyone.

Very neat, technically. Not very practical.

Yeah I wouldn't want to be the guy who accidentally bathed our Calderan allies in acid.

We'll compromise. We'll install the lightning moat, but NOT hide it, so the Calderans can just turn it on to scare people off. It's very flashy.

It gives us plausible deniability at least. 'cause I know the Calderans are just gonna start frying Gigan soldiers on it.

Well you have to admit that'll make the Gigans think twice about invading again.
