TEST DRIVE MEME: JUNE + JULY EDITION

Welcome to bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are encouraged to use either first person or third person for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Refuge has opened its gates to the people of Union, Caldera and Citadel, in the most hospitable way they feel possible: A party. Some have come to explore the expansive underground city, but mostly, word has spread about how Refuge's brews are on point. They don't seem to discriminate on age, either.

#2 The city of Caldera is starting a major production project and they need workers. The forges are constantly going day and night and the pay's good, but it's hot, hard work that'll leave you tired and achy to say the least.

#3 The Summer Solstice festival has begun in Citadel. The tree is in full bloom, with flowers of every color dot its branches. This week-long celebration brings together the various tribes that call Citadel its home through music, dancing and, of course, fighting. There is a tournament set to begin, boasting some of the strongest Valkyries that Citadel has ever known among the combatants.

#4 The heat has really gotten to the people of Union, and as a result many have moved south for a weekend get-away in the Archipelago and the larger Island. The sand is warm and the water is too, but doesn't the beach seem a bit crowded for a once seemingly deserted area?

[Fuuka was never usually one for parties but she knew that it would be wrong of her to miss this one. Although, as hard as she may try to socialize with a bunch of others, it usually ended up with her having no idea what to say or what to do with so many people around!

Hope you don't mind a wallflower as she stares at so many others partying! ...And maybe trying her best not to look awkward either]

[Yukiko hadn't really intended to come for the drinking and partying. She'd just happened to be there to let Cassandra go run around underground again...but she'd ended up at the party anyway.

And that meant she too was hovering near the edges, lest she face the crowd of people who are all inebriated and would probably fluster her. And that discomfort gets her near Fuuka...]

Some party, huh?

[As Fuuka continued to stare on, she was mumbling. At first, she wanted to go toward the center of the party to try and force herself to socialize. However, just what can she talk about anyway? At times like these, the poor young woman so did wish she wasn't so shy...

Of course, that was when she heard someone nearby. Now, that she wasn't expecting]

Yes, it quite lovely. I never been to one such as this before, I think it's quite nice. And especially when there are so many people around. [Even if she is being a wallflower right now]

[Yukiko smiles, a genuinely radiant expression. It's odd, because she feels like this girl is a shy as she is in some ways. And moreso in others.]

No? Never? You didn't make it to Citadel or Caldera? [Those had been even crazier, and Yukiko had just...left...Caldera after seeing a little bit too many people without enough clothing.]

[Fuuka bit her lip a little as she shook her head. It was a bit embarrassing to say that she didn't but...]

No, I haven't but I-I hope that I can some day! It just seems like it's such a long way from here and I don’t think it would be wise for me to travel alone either!

[frozenflame]

Well nobody said anything about going alone, silly.

[Yukiko smiles fondly.] You're a trainer right?

O-Oh! Then maybe I won't! Although, I don't really know who I should go with! Because I must admit, I feel a little awkward for asking.

[She smiled to herself] And especially when I'm so new to being a trainer...

Well, that's alright. everyone starts somewhere! I definitely did...

Oh really? Then if I asked you what did you do when you first started out?

[Rise, on the other hand, had no problems having a drink. Although the fact that one drink is causing her problems might be, itself, a problem.]

Wait, we're in Refuge. Maybe you live here...

[And here is Fuuka who just stared at the girl in front her her and just...having no idea what to say right back. Quick, think of something!! Anything at all!!]

Uh...no, I'm afraid not? I've lived in the Union all my life but I'm assuming that you are?

But my name is Fuuka! It's nice to meet you, Rise! I'm guessing you're enjoying the party?

[Rise's face immediately falls. Doesn't keep her voice from being just as loud.]

Oh man, I'm sorry! I thought I knew everyone from Union...or everyone knew me.

[She slumps over a little.]

Not that I want everyone to know me. Well, I do, you know? But not just because of how I look. 's why I quit, right?

[Rise you have had one drink.]

[As such, Fuuka continued to blink a little. Uh-oh, did she do something she wasn't suppose to?]

Oh, I'm sorry, was I suppose to? I'm afraid that I haven't been pay much attention to the news lately!

[That and there were probably more important things on your mind when you're in the hospital all the time. Still, she raised an eyebrow]

Then...would it be ill-mannered if I didn't recognize you?

Oh, no, don't worry about it! I'm being narcis...narciss...stuck up! I can't just go around assuming people know me, that's rude.

[After some serious nodding on this, she brightens up again.]

I'm Rise! Wait, I already said that. Anyway, what brings you here, Fuuka?

If you say so, I don't want to seem rude to you. And especially when you seem so certain that you did...

[But maybe it was for the better? If people knew you all the time, it would make things a little distracting??

Either way...!]

Ah, well, I was hoping to meet some new people here! As a way to introduce myself to them but it seems like it's a lot more difficult than I thought! [Said the wallflower]

[Rise nods vigorously.]

It's very hard! I had to have training, you know!

But it turns out you just kind of throw yourself out there with a smile and it works great, even when you're embarrassing yourself. It's what I'm doing right now!

[Now that wasn't what Fuuka was expecting. So much so, her eyes widen a little as she wanted to find the correct words to say back]

O-Oh, then you must have a lot of confidence, Rise! I know you said it was difficult but I don't think I can do anything quite like that!

[As Fuuka was in the middle of her own thoughts, it was quickly cut short by someone!

Uh...quick, Fuuka do something!]

B-But it just seems like there's so many people though! I don't think it would be right for me to just walk up and say hi to them!

[Meanwhile, despite Yosuke nudging her, she wasn't sure how to react. Oh why did she even bother to come to this party if it was going to turn out like this?]

Uh...o-okay then? I'm sorry, I never been to a party like this before. It just seems like a lot all at once!

Come on, you haven't been to a party like this? I guess since it's Refuge it's a little different, but you were hanging over there like a total wallflower!

[He's leading her over to where the dance floor is.]
