THE TIMELINE MEME



We’ve been chronicling the adventures of Union for the past few years now, but what about everyone’s childhoods? What about the bright futures they’re hoping to obtain, or the desperation they’ll feel if they fail? This is a place to have fun imagining what would happen if characters met at different periods in their lives!

Play around with any of the following:

1) Ten Years Ago…: Maybe your character is a child dreaming of their own Pokémon adventure. Maybe they’re just embarking on their career. How did everything begin? Play around with it! (Remember, though: Union thought they were the only civilization out there…)

2) Ten Years Later - Good End: The world has been saved, and all the cities in the world are friends! What might it look like? Imagine that here!

3) Ten Years Later - Bad End: …or perhaps the Elite Four succeed in “punishing” mankind. Perhaps the gods forgive humanity, but Gigas causes global warming. Perhaps Mewtwo changes his mind. Whatever catastrophe has befallen the world, it’s time for SURVIVAL HORROR WITH POKEMON. Good luck.

4) Bonus: Full AU: What if things went differently at any point in the game? Perhaps Union has become a colony of Gigas, or Reshiram’s rampage wasn’t stopped. Maybe Union refused to aid Sanctuary because, dear lord, have you seen what they do to people in Sanctuary. Change one thing, and you’ll change everything!

[He thought he recognized that voice, the man moves surprisingly quiet for some wearing a lot of jewelry, trying to sneak up on the grumbling man to tap him on his shoulder]

[The tap on his shoulder had him whirling in an instant, a thick hardbound book in hand swinging down to smack whomever the 'assailant' was. When Waver caught sight of who the person was, however... he only swung again.]

Sinbad! [he hissed,] You're the one who flunked the library organization lecture, aren't you?

[He weaves left, then right as Waver swung, avoiding the first cleanly - the second nearly clips his shoulder. His tail wags]

You're getting faster.

[slightlytaller]

And you're still a brat.

[Huffing irritably now, he dropped the book he carried to his side and cast Sinbad a tired look.]

You never answered my question either. You know I can't let that stand.

[ofsevenseas]

All right, all right - didn't end up making it to the exam, things came up.

[He shrugs]

But I would've passed if I had been there.

[slightlytaller]

Is that right...?

[He roughly shoved the stack of books towards Sinbad-- better grab them unless you want them to fall!]

How about you put these away and show me, if you're so confident. If you can't, I'll personally give you the lecture right here and now.

[...Not even a day back in Union, and he was already making threats. Whether they were just bluster or not remained to be seen.]

[He staggers a bit to grab all the books]

Really? You're serious? Fine. I'll show you.

[Sinbad starts to put them away, he does seem to know it, but he constantly has to stop and double check himself]

[slightlytaller]

[Sinbad has a looming audience for the entire time he works, because Waver wants to be absolutely certain that Sinbad knows what he's doing. On the more difficult parts Waver might idly tap at a place on a shelf to offer a hint, but for the most part he keeps his hands off.

After all, Sinbad won't learn if he doesn't do it on his own.]

[He sighs - he can do it, he just finds it boring, less interesting than actually cross-referencing old books, or actually doing things in the field.

Sinbad won't admit, but he did appreciate the little hints when he falters]

There. Told you I can do it.

[slightlytaller]

And I stand corrected.

[Waver sighed, reaching up a hand to loosen his ponytail now that he was back in civilization. Practicality won out at every turn, but he was glad to have a chance to relax some.]

Maybe you're not as hopeless as I thought.

[And to that he smiled, a sly look that dared Sinbad to come up with a better quip.]

[ofsevenseas]

I seem to recall I pulled your bacon out of the fire plenty of times.

[He shot back, though his smirk is teasing]

You do look better with your hair down.

[slightlytaller]

That doesn't prevent you from being hopeless, [he said pointedly, peering at Sinbad from over the rim of his glasses.]

And you know I'm not those girls you sway so easily with words.

[ofsevenseas]

[He just started laughing]

I know, I know.
