TESTRUN MEME

1) With spring fast approaching, Pokémon contests have become more prevalent, and stages have been cropping up all over Union. An open mic competition is being held in the park, and a trio of Jigglypuffs can be found taking the stage. Needless to say, they probably won't be a fan favorite...

2) Refuge has opened its gates to the people of Union, Caldera and Citadel, in the most hospitable way they feel possible: A party. Some have come to explore the expansive underground city, but mostly, word has spread about how Refuge's brews are on point. They don't seem to discriminate on age, either.

3) The great tree in Citadel is blooming a myriad of colors. The people are celebrating with a great festival among the various tribes that call Citadel and the surrounding area its home. This involves flower arranging, lots of meat, and, of course, a tournament to prove one's meddle in battle.

4) The city of Caldera is starting a major production project and they need workers. The forges are constantly going day and night and the pay's good, but it's hot, hard work that'll leave you tired and achy to say the least.

5) Wildcard! Come up with a prompt!

[Well, it is her job to be prepared. Kate pets the Purrloin in her lap absently, enjoying the rumbling feel of her friend's purr.]

Someone who's smart enough to know that a singing competition will always draw out Jigglypuffs. [She pulls out a second pair and puts it in his hand.] I brought you your own set, but you were too into the performances.

[Teach you to give her the "wait a minute" finger.]

[ Maki is a musician herself, knowing just fine how to play a piano and cello (though not a biwa). But she's never seen one just...play itself like that. It doesn't really make sense to Maki, who has been standing there enraptured the whole time. ]

H-How did you do that?

[Unfortunately, it would be a little difficult to carry a piano around, otherwise odds are Xiu would have that instead of the keyboard. However, she beams at the red haired girl as she answers.]

Lots of practice!

[ That would be a problem. But that doesn't explain anything at all to Maki who just narrows her eyes suspiciously. ]

I mean, how do you play them all at once like that?

[Xiu just looks...sort of clueless for a moment.]

I dunno. It's just sort of my thing, you know?

[Castle rolls his eyes as he takes the earplugs, though it's a fond eye-roll. There's a reason she's his better half.]

It's always great to watch the Pokemon perform, even if some of them don't really have talent.

[Like that Charmander whose talent was roasting hot dogs with his tail. Seriously?]

[She's kinda smarter than him, and everyone knows it. But, it's good that he's acknowledging it too. She bumps her shoulder into his and goes back to looking up at the stage.]

Oh, I enjoy watching them as well. They give it their all, but that doesn't mean I want to take a nap in the middle of the day.

[The Eeveelutions and their acrobatic routine was really cute.]

[ Eyes narrowing more!!! ]

...That's not usually a thing anyone else can do, you know. Most of us just play one at a time!

Well, I can't choose just one.

Gotta flow with the music!

That's not how playing an instrument works!

[ She hates to think of people taking shortcuts in learning music! ]

Why not? It took a while to learn them all, learning all their notes and keys from scratch.

[That's right, no sheet music or anything here. It all comes from her heart and soul!]

[Smarter than him? Really? Castle can think of many cases Kate would still be spinning her wheels on if he hadn't helped her think outside the box on them. Smartness is relative.]

I actually taking naps in the middle of the day, just not in the middle of a park with a thousand other people.

Well...that's good... but it's still not normal!!

There are a bunch of people who aren't normal.

I've seen guys who could control fire and stuff.

[ That's true, she herself has cat ears and a tail, her girlfriend has wings now... Maki just sighs, and hangs her head. ]

I just have never seen anyone play music like that before. I'm kind of jealous...

[Yeah, Maki's way weirder!]

Do you play instruments too?

[cutiepanther]

[ Rude, she is not!! She's still a normal girl...who can just transform sometimes. ]

I play a few, but I mostly sing and play the piano.

[echoingmelody]

[WEIRD. Xiu doesn't have any weird appendages or anything. Unless her instruments count.]

Pianos are nice, but a little hard to carry around.

[But she smiles and gestures to the keyboard.] That's why I have this, though!

[Alright, so they have their own strengths. Her intelligence just happens to be more practical than his "outside-the-box" thinking. Hence the earplugs.]

Well, that's generally want you want to avoid, yes. It could have been a total stranger that you started drooling on, Castle.

[ Yes, those count! ]

Most people don't carry them around. Or play without touching the keys themselves. I'm still confused how you can actually do that. Is it some kind of Enlightened ability?

Enlightened?

[She's not quite sure what that is. Rather, she's never heard the term before.]

Hm...it's liiiiike an extension of my body, you know?

[And that's why they're perfect for each other.]

[A party is all well and good, but there's work to be done in order for everything to go just right. That's where you'll find Fili and his pokemon, struggling to arrange flowers. It's not going too well, but he's trying, tongue poking out the corner of his mouth.

He waves someone down and shows them an arrangement.] How does that look to you?

[It's nice to be back home, but Fili doesn't have enough time to socialize. He's working full days, double or even triple shifts on the forges. He's grown up near these fires, so it isn't as hard for him as for some of the others that have come in to help, so he does what he can to offer a hand to the new folks.

He takes his supper after his shift, slumping against a wall and slurping down a watery soup like he hasn't eaten in years. Should someone like to join him, he'll greet them with a friendly smile.]
