Testrun Meme - May

This is an open testrun meme. Posts here may be used in lieu of a sample entry for any applications. For your convenience, we've provided a few prompts, but feel free to make your own!

1. A Wild Pokémon appears! But not just any Pokémon; this one is different. Bigger. Stronger. Angrier. More bizarre? This can be anything from an Aggron to a Lickilicky but consider it fully evolved, big, and not something you can handle alone.

2. Spring cleaning! Who left all these flowers around everywhere? In the aftermath of what happened in April, the town needs to be thoroughly cleared of vegetation and debris. It will require a group effort. Your Bugs might be a little distracted though.

3. The fresh water in Union is getting low! It seems like Bidoof have dammed off the streams in the forest that provide Union with its fresh water. What do you do? Murder the Bidoof? Dig a new waterway right next to Union? Capitalize on the shortage and sell bottled water produced by your Water types?

4. You're in the depths of the Old City exploring and you just dropped your only source of light into a bottomless abyss. Whoops. Hopefully, you're not alone, right? ...If you are alone, perhaps it would be a good idea to call for a rescue.

5. A Grimer and a Trubbish are fighting in the middle of Union! It's so disgusting that you can't even get close. Do you rush in to break it up? Push someone else to do it? Take bets on who will win? Run away and gossip with your friends about the deplorable state of Union nowdays and how much better Gigas probably is?

6. Wildcard! Make up your own!

[ A place called the "Old City" is a pretty likely spot to contain clues about the past. So Haruka has suited up in full Divine Defense Force gear - complete with mask to disguise her identity - and descended into the tunnels to see whether there's anything down here no one's discovered (or gone public with yet). She's squinting at a wall when she hears...

A scream. And it sounds close. Just around that bend conveniently obscuring her own light source from view, actually. She steps forward, making sure to stay as obscured as possible. ] Who's there?

Oh! Is someone there? It's really dark in here.

[Minako felt along the wall, moving carefully towards the voice.]

[ That doesn't sound like a researcher. Or an explorer. Or anyone who has any business being down here, really. Haruka frowns. ]

This place is dangerous. You should have brought a light.

Ah-hahaha

[Yeeeaaahhh... about that.]

Well, see... I did, but... it kind of fell... I think down a big hole back there or something. Either way, it's gone, and I can't reach it, and now it's dark.

Do you have a light? Or a Pokémon that can make light?

[Like with Flash or something?]

[ Oh dear Savior you are as unfitting for this exploration as you sound. There's a flicker, and then a lamp does appear, held aloft and bobbing in the air by a rather intent Pidgeotto. She mustn't drop the lamp. She mustn't.

A Rotom whirrs around her, enjoying the light. Mother is a hard worker! ] Rrrr!

[ The Trainer, however, is keeping "his" back to Minako. Only a hint of profie, dark and mysterious, peers over one broad shoulder. ] Follow me.

Oh!

[The little Eevee at her feet coo'd in thanks at them.]

Thank you.

[She followed carefully.]

Come on, you two.

[Behind her and the Eevee, an Aron followed as well.]

Um... So. I'm Minako. It's nice to meet you.

[ The Trainer doesn't say a word. The Rotom, however, spins around in midair a few times, then buzzes back to say hello. It's flapping its lightning-bolt arms as if they were wings. Don't mind its Trainer! Play with it! ] Rrrrrr! Rrrrrrr!!

[ Pidgeotto is still focusing on carrying the lantern, but her expression is a world of unsurety right now. Isn't this place kind of dangerous? Should they really all be traipsing along down here together? ]

[Minako blushed a little.]

Ah...

[She then focused on the Rotom. She smiled.]

It's nice to meet you, Rotom.

Vee!

[Eevee was just going to chime in over here, too.]

Rrrr? [ Ro...tom....? It is a Pidgey named "Broken Möbius." You're funny! Maybe the light's really bad!

Pidgeotto tries to hide a long-suffering look from Eevee, as she has a feeling expressing frustration with Rotom would make her a bad sport.

Haruka, meanwhile, has come to a stop. She holds up an arm. Just ahead...she thought she heard something? No, felt something. And that's bad. There shouldn't be any wind down here. ] Stay back.

Eevee... [But... you are a Rotom...]

Huh?

[Minako stopped, peering into the darkness ahead of them, her Pokémon at her feet.]

Rrrrr! [ You're a silly Eevee! The first thing it saw when it hatched was a Pidgeotto. Therefore, that must be its mother, and that makes it a Pidgey! It prides itself on how fast it can fly already. It's some Pidgey.

Haruka gives it a look, however, and it shuts up. She then starts squinting into the darkness ahead, attempting to make out silhouettes. ] Something's wrong. Wait here till I say you can move.

[ A nod of her head, and Pidgeotto is flying ahead with the lantern, Haruka a few steps behind her. Nothing so far. Maybe she imagined it?

That's when the wall behind Minako starts to tremble. ]

[Eevee almost commented back, but the mysterious rescuer shushed them all with a glance. Minako blinked.]

Wait!

[But the lantern had already been flown off ahead of them, and Minako could no longer see where to step safely. So, she waited.

Well, until the wall started to shake. Eevee made an alarmed noise and positioned herself between Minako and the wall, as did Aron.]

[ Wait, what's that - Haruka whirls. ] Get b--

[ Too late. A hole is suddenly kicked in that wall, chunks of rock flying everywhere, and a triumphant shout of "Scraggy!" is heard. Who's messing with its turf, huh? Bringing lights down here and all that nonsense?! It'll show all of you!

The Pokémon leaps through the opening its kick had made, stopping to hitch up its pants before striking a threatening pose. There's no need for humans down here!

Rotom squeaks and hides behind Pidgeotto. Haruka takes the lantern from her Pokémon. This is going to be a pain. ]

[This could be bad. Fighting types were strong against both Minako's Pokémon!

But Eevee wasn't going to let that get her down. She shifted her stance and blinked cutely at the Scraggy. Baby-Doll Eyes!]

[ Agh, that's cute! Scraggy clutches its chest, feeling its will to fight affected...but no, these Pokémon and their smelly humans are in its turf! Why don't they just go aboveground where they belong?

It jumps in for a Low Kick.....only to get tripped as someone else's leg collides with it and sends it tumbling into the debris it'd knocked loose from the wall. The ceiling above them shakes. Haruka clicks her tongue against the back of her teeth. ]

Small fry. [ To Minako, facing her but still disguised by her mask: ] We're leaving.

[ A bit of dust trickles from the ceiling onto Minako's shoulder. Yes. Yes, they. Probably should consider getting out of here.

Especially since Scraggy is getting back up and making threatening motions at Minako's party again. ]

Y-you... hit that Pokémon yourself?

[SPARKLY SHOUJO EYES UWAAAAHHHH SHE WAS SO IMPRESSED]

[ It wasn't even a special attack, at that. Just Haruka getting fed up at nothing going her way.

Including this. ] What are you doing?! Hurry and get out of here!

[ She'll grab you by your wrist and drag you along if she has to to make a run for it. Scraggy makes another charging attempt at Eevee, too. He's not the shiniest rock in the pile. ]

Eeeeee!! [She squealed a little as she was dragged along.]

Eevee!

[No way was Eevee going to let Scraggy hurt the humans! Ignoring the command to leave, (Uranus was not her trainer!) she took the hit. Thankfully, it was lowered from her own move earlier, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Not giving up, yet, she used Swift before letting her Run Away ability take over and get her and Aron out of there!]

[ Owowowowow! Yeah, you folks better run. You're afraid of him, aren't you! You're afraid of -

The ceiling shudders. Scraggy looks up and gulps. Wasn't him.

Haruka, meanwhile, is running for their lives - only to notice the passageway is about to give way to a bridge where bits and pieces have fallen down! ~~What is with this absurdly cliché dungeon crawl?~~ She looks back at Minako. ] Can you jump?

Mm. [She nodded sharply. She could do this.

Aron and Eevee kept running, but Aron turned back when Scraggy's bravado stopped.]

Aron!

[Come on, Scraggy. You should run, too!]

[ Run? With you losers? As if...

A piece of rock falls from the ceiling. Yeah. He'll run. Scraggy will gladly hitch up his pants and run.

Haruka, meanwhile, is gritting her teeth as that ledge approaches. If you say you can do it..... ] Don't trip.

[ And she hurdles it. Like a pro. Holding Minako's hand, so hopefully she timed her jump to match your footfalls. Pidgeotto wheels around the scene, ready to ferry over any Pokémon that aren't so gifted at leaping. Rotom doesn't get what all the fuss is about, but it's here, too. ]

[She was pretty athletic herself, so she was able to match stride easily enough and jump when she had to. And while she landed closer to the edge than her savior, Minako was able to keep her balance and hop the few extra needed steps to safety!

Eevee also had no trouble making the leap. Aron, on the otherhand, stopped just short. That was a deep hole! How was he going to jump that?]

[ Haruka looks back and notices Aron just as Scraggy comes flying over the crevasse - he doesn't exactly stick the landing, rolling in a bundle of limbs and pants, but at least he made it. Then, she looks away, intending to keep running.

Rotom heads back to Aron and whirrs around his head. It's okay! Mother is coming to save you! Their Trainer hasn't said anything about it yet, but she's super reliable! ] Rrrrrr!

But wait! Aron!

[She wasn't going to just leave him behind! She puuled her hand free and went back to try encouraging him to jump. Eevee did, too, calling for Aron to try.

He shook his head. Too scary!]

What are you doing?!

[ Haruka rounds on Minako; Scraggy, having no such loyalties, hitches up his pants and continues to make a break for it. ] The ceiling's coming down! Let's go!

[ ....Or you could point out, Haruka, that your Pidgeotto is flying over there now and striking up a hurried conversation with Aron. How heavy are you? Do you want her to try to get you across? ] Pidgee?
