TEST DRIVE MEME: OCTOBER + NOVEMBER EDITION

Welcome to bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are welcome to use either prose or brackets for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you. While not required, we also encourage you to take a look at the most recent AU Planning post.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Gigas is offering discount guided tours of select factories to visitors from other cities. Today there’s a chance to take a tour of a factory that makes a small, sweet, triangular three-colored candy inspired by the golden cornfields of Crescent. But a band of rogue Rotom have possessed the factory equipment and are causing havoc! Either duck and cover or open your mouth, because there’s treats headed your way. (Also, watch out for the horde of Slurpuff this sugary chaos has attracted.)

#2 Berry farmers are preparing for this season’s biggest harvest and could use a hand. Berry picking is the most common task, but you may also be called upon depending on your skills to help cart picked Berries out of the fields, separate ripe and healthy Berries from ones Bug-types have nibbled on, and helping the farmers’ Grass-type Pokémon prepare for the first frost. Have you ever tried to put mittens on leaves before?

#3 Following the success of the World’s Fair, an entire row of restaurants have opened in the heart of Union. Each chef hails from a different city, and they’re all competing for your palate by making the most….unique….dishes from each of their homes. Loudly. Proudly. Outdoors. At the top of their lungs. Here’s hoping you have what it takes to survive….a Specialties Contest.

#4 Trees all over the Verdant Forest, and in Union proper, have started to lose their leaves. Piles of fallen leaves, raked by conscientious volunteers, dot Union’s many parks here and there. They are very large piles. They are very inviting piles. The sort a mischievous human…or Pokémon…might jump in, if they were so inclined. Make of that what you will.

#5 It’s a Pokémon Triathlon! Bring your own running, swimming, and flying Pokémon or choose from a trained stable and challenge this three-tiered course. But watch out for those pesky Castform that have been hired as obstacles on the path or else they’ll rain on your parade…..

[With that loud, commanding voice, a certain puts himself between this man and the demanding restaurateurs.]

He said he doesn't like meat...! I can't imagine WHY, but buzz off!

[Salvation came from an unlikely source-- a strange man with a distinctive appearance that all but screamed Gigan and Scientist with equal fervor. A part deep inside of Randel's heart fluttered in momentary panic....until he heard the disgruntled murmurs between the various restauranteurs. 'This really isn't worth it,' they said. 'The big guy doesn't look like he has much money anyway...'

He heaved a deep sigh of relief when they finally stalked off.]

Uhm.... [He began uneasily, rubbing a big hand through his hair in his own embarrassment.] Sorry about that. Shop keepers are always like that.

[Ivo turned to face the large man, and... in but an instant, his angry-looking expression turned from one of anger to something more affable.]

It's no problem. Vendors are the same no matter where you end up going. Always looking to take advantage of tourists... or anyone, really.

[He wrinkled his nose.] Just today, I had someone try to get my attention by saying I "looked like I had a healthy appetite". Can you even imagine?

[He heaved a relievevd sigh at the bright change in demeanor, glad to not have to deal with yet another confrontation on his hands.]

No, I can't-- but money must still be tight. I heard this city just got finished rebuilding itself...

[From some disaster earlier in the year. People were always trying to make up for lost numbers, but these shop keepers today were a little much...]

[With a genuine smile, he offers the man his hand.] Anyway, I'm Ivo Robotnik. It's a pleasure, eh...?

[That smile was infectious, and it was hard not to return it as he firmly grasped and shook the offered hand.]

Randel Oland. I...yes, it is nice.

Uhm....speaking of survival, can you help me find a place to get food that isn't expensive and isn't so fussy? This city's much bigger than I thought.

[There were lots of stray meowths and purrloins, though. Cats were always nice.]

[At his question, Ivo rubbed the back of his head, shrugging.]

Yes, well, I'm afraid... I can't answer that question with authority. I'm new to this place as well.
