TESTRUN MEME

1) Harvest time! The Agricultural Tower needs a hand harvesting the crops. How is that working out for you and your Pokemon?

2) It's starting to get a bit chilly out! Snow is now blanketing the ground and as an unfortunate side effect Ice Types are now on a rampage through Union. They seem to be having a lot of fun, but it's inconveniencing everyone else, what do you do?

3) Soulfasting is upon us, and festivals abound. Residents have taken to one of the larger parks in Union to celebrate. There are delicious sweets, performances on stage and other spectacles. Some people from the audience are even being pulled up on stage! How are you celebrating?

4) With Autumn coming to a close, many trees within the Verdant Forest have shed their leaves into enormous piles. Unfortunately, this extends beyond the forest and into Union itself, and there is now a big leaf problem. You get to clean it up, have fun!

5) Wildcard! Come up with a prompt!

[Squall isn't sure why he stopped and watch Adachi get flung into the snowbank. He was minding his own business, walking home from work and trying to avoid any ice-themed havoc. Watching the other face plant was kind of ...funny, if Squall found that kind of thing funny. He was inside the city, so it wasn't really ranger duty to help, but he just kind of sighs.]

[The snow will be (gently) blown off of Adachi, a pretty Froslass sitting on Squall's shoulder doing the work. She gives him a wave when he's out, before going back to snuggling into her trainer friend's fur collar lazily instead. The brunet doesn't seem to notice Shiva making a bit of a spectacle of herself, just giving her a nod in thanks. Then... he just kind of turns and starts walking away. He's not good with gratitude, and he's not expecting any.]

[Adachi sat up once the snow was off of him, shaking his head to knock off the white stuff that was still clinging to his mess of hair. Magatsu had just hopped onto his lap to check if he was okay when the thought occurred to him to thank his rescuer. His head snapped up, looking around, before spotting the silent teen walking away from him.]

Hey! Thanks, kid!

[alion]

[Squall looks back at him when he gets up, and sighs heavily. Ugh... He didn't have to thank me. The ranger is just going to ignore it when his Froslass tugs at his collar to get his attention, giving him a small look. ...Fine. He walks back and, after a moment's hesitation, he offers Adachi a hand up.]

... It's whatever. Don't mention it.

[sleight_of_hand]

[He accepted the hand up as Magatsu hopped over onto his shoulder, standing up and brushing himself off.]

Whatever nothin'; it was good of you to stop.

[alion]

[This was why it was annoying. The guy would just keep insisting until he accepted his thanks. What was the point? It was his job to help other people, he guessed, but individually it was ...ugh. Shiva gives Magatsu a wave, floating over to dust off their fur gently with her "sleeves." Squall pockets his hands.]

There's no use being out here without a Pokemon to fight off the Ice types. You should go home.

[Magatsu let out a happy noise, his matching tie swishing back and forth as he wriggled happily. Adachi, meanwhile, let out an embarrassed noise, reaching back to rub at his neck.]

Man, you don't pull punches, do you kid? 'Sides, the idea is to get them to stop, not fight them off.

[alion]

[... Isn't that the same thing? Squall tries not to sigh again. Shiva sits (very lightly) on Magatsu's back when she's done, sidesaddle like a lady. Commence Pokemon friendship making!! Too bad she's the sociable one here, Squall is the opposite.]

Fighting, chasing them off... it's the same. If you can't get rid of them, you should take cover.

[Magatsu let out another happy noise, glad to have a new friend, even if his human didn't seem to be too happy with hers at the moment. Adachi was trying to remain friendly, but trying to talk with this kid almost felt like talking to a wall: cold, unmovable, and just as much of a conversationalist.]

It's not about chasing them off, either. It's about keeping them from making too much of a mess, like that.

[He pointed to the ice slick that led to his previous predicament.]

'Sides, this is my job; keeping things peaceful inside the city. I can't go around beating up everything because of a season change; that's crazy.

[alion]

... You're a Sword then.

[It's not a question, but he doesn't sound disgusted or anything either. Most Rangers have pretty bad opinions of Swords but if Squall does he keeps them to himself. Squall looks a little quizzical, disbelieving. Shouldn't a Sword be able to keep from getting tossed in the snow? At least the wall analogy is pretty correct.]

Whatever. Get something to melt the ice.

[Well, no one complimented him on being the best Sword out there, that was for certain. He kept his brains to himself unless he really needed them. It was easier to act like the hopeless goof anyway; no one depended on you for anything that way.]

[Adachi let out an exasperated noise at that, his free shoulder slumping slightly.]

...you don't do this social thing well, do you?

[Clearly he should be talking to the Froslass; it'd probably be a better conversation.]

[Really, they're similar. Squall doesn't take the "hopeless goof" route, but he understands not wanting anyone to depend on you. He just doesn't get wanting people to be disappointed in you when you failed. It's not something he likes to think about.]

No. [It's unapologetic.]

I was just passing by and thought you could use the help. ...That's all.

[sleight_of_hand]

[...well, at least he was honest.]

[Adachi paused at that, and part of him wanted to be annoyed, but he couldn't quite manage it, and he wasn't sure why. The kid probably has some tragic past that made him that way; wasn't his fault, and it wasn't his business either.]

Well... again, thanks all the same. I appreciate it.

[Adachi pls. You have no idea.]

What do you plan on doing to handle the situation?

[Yeah we're sliding right along into Ignore Mode. Orders-Duty-Mission Mode is way easier.]

Well... only thing I can do. Keep on doing what I can do.

[His Eevee let out a happy noise, and Adachi reached up, scritching under his chin.]

... Which is...?

[Falling into the snow? Shiva floats back up to sit on his shoulder and he gives her a little pat. He's not... entirely devoid of emotion. Apparently.]

Try to round them up and keep them from making too much of a mess!
