Testrun meme the second!

With ATP and fresh interest, we are putting up a fresh testrun meme to try out your characters with a few new prompts!

This meme is for people to test out new characters in the Brave New World setting! All threads within this meme can be used for the application sample requirements, a thread with one character with at least 10 comments from your character can be used in place of a first person sample, and two threads with two different characters with at least 10 comments from your character can be used in place of a third person sample. Both samples may be negated in this fashion. Here are a few prompts, feel free to make your own if need be!

1. It's spring and a sudden swarm of Bugs of all types have descended upon the city to mate; there are giant bees and butterflies and moths everywhere. What do you do?

2. Rumors have spread of the sight of an extremely rare green Swellow in the forests nearby. Everyone wants to try to bond with it, but the forest birds are becoming extremely territorial and have been attacking travelers. Are you trying to get the Swellow for yourself? Or are you playing protection duty?

3. The Warp Bands are malfunctioning and everyone keeps getting everyone else's random Pokémon they've never met when they try to fight. You just got someone else's Pokémon, what is it and how do you respond?

4. The temperature regulation for the Ice Pokémon in the Habitat Tower has malfunctioned and the weather in the city is suddenly plummeting. It's becoming too cold to live safely, and you need to get it back online pronto.

5. The Medical Center is dealing with a record high number of cases of paralysis. The patients need to be tended to - but it seems to be being caused by the winds bringing in spores from grass Pokemon. It seems a humongous Vileplume with a horde of Gloom has set up shop right outside the city. Are you helping with the med center? Or perhaps you're attacking the problem at the source.

6. A strange artifact has been unearthed in the Old City. It appears to be repairable, but you need some supplies only found in a cave known to be infested with powerful wild Pokémon. What do you do?

[It's coooooold, and Janine does better in heat. She doesn't have a good enough coat for her human form and she doesn't know a thing about fixing whatever's gone wrong, so she huddles against a wall as a six-foot winged lizard. Her Ralts, less affected but still chilled, sits below her belly, mostly hidden by her wings.]

[It's too cold to function. Quite literally, if the way everyone is bundled up and shivering is any indication, and with everyone wearing so many layers it's making it hard t move.

Or at least Marco's wearing that many layers. Maybe he's just a wimp, but this is probably the most terrible thing that could have happened. Unbearable heat would still be been better than this.]

[He doesn't even know anything about fixing...anything. How did he get roped into this?]

[ Lucky for Marco, his pal Jean knows what to do. Well, sorta. He is in the guard, you know. Not that he's faring any better with a good ton of layers of his own, but... well. At least, worst case, Jean's Fletchling can use Ember or something. ]

Q-quit complaining. [ Jean shivers. ] The sooner we flip the switch, the sooner we can get everything back to normal...

[ Lemme know if it's ok to assume they're buds or if Jean is being delusional about having friends... ]

[Eren resembles a sausage more than a person with all the layers he's wearing. Is it really necessary to have on a huge sweater, a down-filled coat, TWO scarves, AND a hat? Yes. Yes it is. Especially when his Skarmory-style feet prevent him from wearing anything more covering than spats. Eevee is snug inside his coat, making a weird lump on his chest]

W-why w-wouldn't they g-get the ice types t-t-to do this?!

[It's times like this Marco wished he had some sort of fire pokemon. Or that his Duskull would somehow learn to do something with fire, because he's really beyond cold right now.

He sighs again, rubbing his hands together.]

[Stationed near the forest, of course, Diarmuid is on duty to protect anyone who might pass through. It's a little easy right now with a lull in activity, but he must stay vigilant...]

[While Jade much preferred exploration to mindless fighting, it is his duty as a Ranger to help out with trouble around the city. Besides, there could be a solution to this problem other than brute force. He checks his equipment (only his spear, really, and some rations) one last time and nods at Diarmuid.]

[With a respectful nod, Diarmuid takes a step closer-- and smiles just slightly when Honedge makes a determined 'shing!' in Jade's direction.]

[While making your way through that pokemon-infested cave, you're meeting resistance from another source! Several people with identical clock-motif uniforms are trying to head you off with pokemon of their own. Being henchmen, they're not a tremendous threat, but the small fry are interrupted when a man clad in metal and pale lights appears out of thin air. He looks ill-tempered.]

No, no, no, we can't have any of this. Our schedule simply doesn't allow for it at all. Instead of fighting us, why don't you cooperate? Team Chronos could find plenty to do with a talented individual such as yourself.

Will you join us in reviving the age of harmony in this world, or will I have to send you away by force?

[Inui wants to see this Swellow--not to bond with, really, or even to protect it. He just wants to see it--and if possible, get some data on it. After all, this is an extraordinarily rare opportunity.

Unfortunately, the forests are still full of grass types as well as the agitated flying types... and he's out there anyway, crouched in the bushes, the coated lenses of his reflective glasses barely visible through the leaves. He looks a bit worse for wear, but if there's one thing he is, it's determined.

This is not a Solosis.

Inui frowns at the Stunky, which growls at him. He takes a step back, but he's keeping a good distance anyway, because if he's unhappy, the odds this Pokemon's base unhappiness is equal to or greater than his own... is 100%.

What's going on? What happened? Why... his warp band? Did he do something to create this malfunction? Where's Solosis?

And why did it have to be a Stunky?

The Stunky growls again, and he puts up his hands defencively--he's probably about to get sprayed at any moment.

Henry | Fire Emblem Awakening

5. While most people had been taken to the medical center to be taken care of, it seems a combination of a more severe paralysis and a bureaucratic mix-up has landed your character in the morgue. You wake up on a cold steel bed, covered by a sheet and with Henry, in a surgical mask and heavy apron, hovering over you with a scalpel.

"Golly! Looks like you're still alive! If you had waited 30 more seconds you would have been in quite a pickle there, nya-ha-ha."


3. Standing in the intersection of two roads, Henry stares at the strange Magnetmite that appeared before him instead of his expected Ghastly. After a few moments of staring he takes a step forward and reaches out to touch the floating orb, only to be greeted with an intense shock. He laughs a bit, and then attempts to pet the pokemon a second time, repeating the cycle over and over as his clothes become more and more singed looking.

"I guess you are kind of mad. You can shock me all you want but I still want to be your friend strange metal thing."

His first thought is, uncharacteristically, a fanciful impression that karma had caught up with him at long last, and he's about to go through what he had put so many Pokemon through. For a second, his eyes are dark with genuine fear, but then rationality sweeps in and he parses what the masked figure has to say.

Ah. Yes, the paralysis. His face still feels stiff and sore, but Jade manages to school his expression back into his usual smile. Hopefully his momentary lapse of control would simply be taken as surprise at the situation. After all, most people do react negatively at waking up to someone standing over them with a scalpel.

It takes a bit of effort, but Jade forces his numb lips into working. "Then it's a good thing I hadn't waited," he says.

Pleasantries over with, he attempts to get up and leave, wanting some distance as he's still slightly unsettled by his earlier fevered impression despite the nonchalance he's projecting. Unfortunately, the task is beyond him at the moment. With a sigh, he allows his limbs to relax again, then smiles blandly up at Henry.

"My apologies, but it seems I'll have to continue occupying your bed for the moment. I hope it's not an inconvenience." Jade may be conveying regret, but he sounds perfectly content.

"No problem! The screaming probably would have stopped me anyway. I can go work one someone else while you recover. These people aren't very chatty. Except for occasionally, but then it's just groans and attempting to eat my brains."

Henry walks over to one of the doors and opens it, bringing a slight chilly blast into an already frigid room.

"While I'm in here is there anything I can get ya? A third lung can really help your endurance!"

Oh, bother. Looks like poor Jinxie has lost her forehead charm again and gone off wandering where she shouldn't have. It was probably only a matter of time before she managed to pass out completely, and given her pale complexion and dark rings under her eyes, it would be easy enough to mistake her for a corpse. Even so, as she slowly regains consciousness and blinks herself awake, she shoots up in place as soon as she catches sight of the light glinting off that shiny scalpel Henry is carrying.

"Please don't kill me!"

"Nya-ha-ha, I wasn't going to kill you! I was just going to cut you open and take out all of your organs because I thought you were dead! What are you doing down here anyway? I thought zombies lived in graveyards."

Henry holds his hand to his chine to ponder this, his hand bleeding profusely from a large, fresh cut. It doesn't appear to phase him.

Chris Ramirez | Kamen Rider Dragon Knight | Normal/??? | Prompt 2

While the hunt for finding the illusive green Swellow was on, Chris was trying very hard to see the Pokemon. He had serious doubts wether or not it would be him who bonded with it but he wouldn't mind at least seeing it. However his job kept him from venturing out until now. His Eevee Carmen trailing rihgt behind him. "See anything, Carmen?" Chris asked his Eevee who was hoisted on his left shoulder. The evolution Pokemon shook her head.

Kaito, Swablu Shifter

While everyone else was focused on Swellow in question, Kaito is trying to calm the birds down, usually with song. But it didn't mean he was on the side of the trainers. Once the largest part of the flocks drifted off to sleep, he turned towards the humans, arms folded over his chest before he ducks his head, part of his face buried under his extremely fluffy muffler.

"I know you're here for the Green Swellow, but could you please leave? You're upsetting everyone."

[Bugs? The little swablu isn't too bothered by it - in fact, he's playfully fluttering about and buzzes many of them, and this continues on until a beedrill lazily floats by then Kaito's reaction changed.

The little pokemon let out a frighten squawk and zipped away, not looking where he was going and flies right into someone's house, knocking off things off a table]

Whoa!

[The girl whose kitchen the Swablu just flew into jumps in shock at the sudden intrusion, and the little Happiny that had been helping her drops the bowl she had been carrying in surprise. They calm down after a second or two and assess the frightened-looking bird.]

What's...hey, are you alright?

[The Happiny, meanwhile, looks at the mess and sighs. Well, at least the intruder had wasted most of Rise's red pepper.]

Kou Mikano / Original Character / Psychic

[Initially Kou hadn't come to the medical center with the intention of helping with the paralyzing epidemic. He'd originally come to the medical center to get his Umbreon's leg checked out. Honestly he hadn't even realized something was going on until he had arrived.

Since then - after getting things with Umbreon settled - he had been running around this way and that helping whoever he could. Are you one of the people he is helping? Or have you caught him while he's taking a break next to his partner? The choice is yours!]

[Eiji has been hard at work trying to help people, too. He kind of happened by the medical center by chance, but as soon as he saw what was going on he didn't hesitate to help out.]

[Though, this was quite an abnormal thing. All of this paralysis had to come from somewhere. Was it a pokemon, maybe?]

[Eiji takes a moment to sit down and catch his breath. He spots the guy next to him and offers him a friendly smile and a nod.]

[Swellow sounds like a swell Pokemon to add to her team, Ruby would love to have one. Unfortunately for her, she seems to have caught the attention of every other bird Pokemon except for the Swellow.

She's currently being chased by a horde of flying Pokemon, does anyone want to help her out?]

Go away! Go! Shoo!

[Oh, my, that's a lot of Pokémon. Yang turns her head, watching them pass; her face screws up a little. Then she notices who they are chasing. Red cloak: check. Short black and red hair: check. Little sister in trouble: CHECK.]

[She moves into action, leaping into the air, and jumps onto a branch before she turns around and fires a shot from Ember Celica. That sends her the rest of the way, along the side of and ahead of the rushing horde, where she lands next to Ruby. With a quick turn, she's running the same way.]

Heeeeeeeyyy Ruby!

[She grins at her.]

[ Not to worry, Ruby. The ground rumbles, the world shakes, and....up thunders a young man (??) riding a Rhyhorn. It thrashes its head, attempting to bat the Pokémon away from Ruby. Its trainer also takes off his(?) jacket and waves it around to try and dispel the horde. ]

[ ....okay, that. That is not her Pokémon. And here she is facing a horde of wild, angry Beedrill in the forest. Despite the dire circumstance, all Haruka can do for a moment is laugh. While facepalming. ]

.....Good grief.

"Hey, beautiful!"

The first step to taking care of this Vileplume problem is getting the spores away from the city. Enter Haruka on her Rhyhorn, a kerchief covering her mouth and nose. Rhyhorn might be a Rock-type, but the two of them together are the wind. She'll run this thing away from the populace before taking it out. "Got a problem with us? Take it up with me."

Hopefully it'll remain focused on her. The last thing a solo operation like this needs is sudden backup - that would just be a distraction.
