TEST DRIVE MEME: JUNE + JULY EDITION

Welcome to bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are encouraged to use either first person or third person for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Refuge has opened its gates to the people of Union, Caldera and Citadel, in the most hospitable way they feel possible: A party. Some have come to explore the expansive underground city, but mostly, word has spread about how Refuge's brews are on point. They don't seem to discriminate on age, either.

#2 The city of Caldera is starting a major production project and they need workers. The forges are constantly going day and night and the pay's good, but it's hot, hard work that'll leave you tired and achy to say the least.

#3 The Summer Solstice festival has begun in Citadel. The tree is in full bloom, with flowers of every color dot its branches. This week-long celebration brings together the various tribes that call Citadel its home through music, dancing and, of course, fighting. There is a tournament set to begin, boasting some of the strongest Valkyries that Citadel has ever known among the combatants.

#4 The heat has really gotten to the people of Union, and as a result many have moved south for a weekend get-away in the Archipelago and the larger Island. The sand is warm and the water is too, but doesn't the beach seem a bit crowded for a once seemingly deserted area?

I don't think it's common.

[Not that she could blame others if they hid it better than her. She was strong and determined--but no one could ever say she was a genius. Coming to something like this without a hat was proof enough of that. She notices the missing pinky, though. She doesn't ask.]

Not sure how it happened but that's the main part of it. [There's not much facial expression from her, though she does pull out her hand and rub her neck.] I...really wanted to be human. So I could meet someone again.

[That should explain the lack of prowess she's showing in the expression department.]

[ it does go far in explaining the girl's stiffness; Elizabeth can see now that what had seemed like simple awkwardness is actually unfamiliarity with being human, both physically and in behaviour. it also explains the something different she can see in the girl. her Analyst ability allows her to see the Types of any Enlightened, but she hadn't been able to identify what this particular strange feeling was - it must be what a Shifter "looks" like to her eye. ]

[Her human form, while on the small side, is still a lot bigger than she was used to even after these years. She's not sure what made the other person nervous. She shook head.]

But I won't give up on them. I just haven't looked enough yet. [The Bunnelby at her feet pulled on her skirt.] Um. I'm Ginko and this is Tough.

[ Ginko's determined answer makes her smile, touched by the girl's commitment. how sweet, to enter a situation so alien just for the opportunity to meet one person... sometimes it seems like the stories she spent her days reading aren't so far-fetched after all. ]

It's a pleasure to meet you both. I'm Elizabeth. [ the Ralts in her arms tugs at the ribbon on Elizabeth's blouse, having seen Tough grab for Ginko's attention. Elizabeth only looks amused by it. ] And my friend's name is Fleur.

Have the two of you ever come to Citadel before?

[It might have been a fool's errand, finding someone when she didn't even know where they went. That small chance was better than her odds if she stayed put with the other Teddiursa. Besides, she wouldn't have met Tough otherwise.]

The same to you both. [She's not completely ignorant of customs.] Once or twice, for supplies mostly. We usually stay away from large groups of people except during times like this.

I can't believe how many people there are!

[ she says it with breathless laughter in her voice, a giddy sort of delight. like witnessing a dream come true. ]

This city is enormous, but there are still such big crowds! It seems like such a lively place, you know? It must be wonderful to live here.

Is this your first time here?

[Judging by her excitement... she's clearly not a local.]

Yes, I'm... not well-travelled. [ ha ha. what an understatement. ] But I'm looking to change that. I want to see everything.

[Tough glances at Elizabeth then at Ginko. He nuzzles one of Elizabeth's legs. Ginko's eyes go slightly wider at that. He wasn't one to like many other Enlightened. She glances down at him then back up.] After this is over... Tough and me know the local area outside Citadel pretty well. It's pretty.
