TEST DRIVE MEME: JUNE + JULY EDITION

Welcome to

bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are encouraged to use either first person or third person for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Refuge has opened its gates to the people of Union, Caldera and Citadel, in the most hospitable way they feel possible: A party. Some have come to explore the expansive underground city, but mostly, word has spread about how Refuge's brews are on point. They don't seem to discriminate on age, either.

#2 The city of Caldera is starting a major production project and they need workers. The forges are constantly going day and night and the pay's good, but it's hot, hard work that'll leave you tired and achy to say the least.

#3 The Summer Solstice festival has begun in Citadel. The tree is in full bloom, with flowers of every color dot its branches. This week-long celebration brings together the various tribes that call Citadel its home through music, dancing and, of course, fighting. There is a tournament set to begin, boasting some of the strongest Valkyries that Citadel has ever known among the combatants.

#4 The heat has really gotten to the people of Union, and as a result many have moved south for a weekend get-away in the Archipelago and the larger Island. The sand is warm and the water is too, but doesn't the beach seem a bit crowded for a once seemingly deserted area?

That's not what I meant.

Really? I never would've guessed.

Oh, but that means I don't have much competition huh? Lucky!

Now then--!

[ Cheery mood aside, she stares down at the dreaded prairie oyster in abject horror. What was this thing going to do to her insides? She... kind of had to drink it. After all, it was from Kyosuke. He was dense and didn't get a damn thing, but he bought her a drink? That meant he cared a little bit, right? ]

Now... then...

[ Oh Gods this thing was disgusting no matter how she looked at it. Kyosuke you really did hate her, didn't you?

Staring the thing down for a moment before taking the glass and chugging it with gusto, the blond sat there in her stool. Her face was placid. Calm, even. She was at peace with the world for that one, fleeting moment.

Then she swallowed down hard. Dear lord what did she just drink. ]

I have good news.

What [ Gulp ] is it?

You are now guaranteed to not suffer from a hangover tomorrow morning.

[ She is not even remotely drunk enough to know how to respond to this right now. ]

You're so kind, Kyosuke.

Just doing my duty.

[ Duty. Right.

She takes a note of the sake bottle sitting near him. It's the same one he's had all night, and she hasn't seen him go for a refill. In fact, by her gauge, he probably isn't even halfway through it yet. ]

Anyway, what are you doing at a bar if you aren't going to drink? You're gonna make the bartender sad, you know.

I have a drink.

That you've been working at since I got here an hour ago.

[ She's not one to judge, Kyosuke, but she's totally judging you right now. ]

It's cheaper if you don't drink so much.

It's also not as fun! You only live once, so don't be such a stick in the mud!

I like my drink.

You're too slow, Kyosuke, too slow. You're never going to get anywhere drinking like that.

Strictly speaking I'm not going to get anywhere no matter how fast I drink. I absorb poison.

[ Wow are you, like, a zero-fun elemental or something? Excellen stares at him a bit. ]

Boo. You could at least act a little buzzed? You're gonna make all the guys in here mad.

[ Well if he hadn't already with the way she's draped herself on him. At least, that's what she tells herself in her mind. ]

You're really asking me to act?

I can't act.

[ No fun Nanbu here. ]

I bet you could if you really tried.

Speaking from experience it would end very badly.

[ Boo boo boo. She wanted a show. Color her disappointed. ]

You need to lighten up a bit, Kyosuke. Wine flies when you're having fun.
