TEST DRIVE MEME: JUNE + JULY EDITION

Welcome to bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are encouraged to use either first person or third person for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Refuge has opened its gates to the people of Union, Caldera and Citadel, in the most hospitable way they feel possible: A party. Some have come to explore the expansive underground city, but mostly, word has spread about how Refuge's brews are on point. They don't seem to discriminate on age, either.

#2 The city of Caldera is starting a major production project and they need workers. The forges are constantly going day and night and the pay's good, but it's hot, hard work that'll leave you tired and achy to say the least.

#3 The Summer Solstice festival has begun in Citadel. The tree is in full bloom, with flowers of every color dot its branches. This week-long celebration brings together the various tribes that call Citadel its home through music, dancing and, of course, fighting. There is a tournament set to begin, boasting some of the strongest Valkyries that Citadel has ever known among the combatants.

#4 The heat has really gotten to the people of Union, and as a result many have moved south for a weekend get-away in the Archipelago and the larger Island. The sand is warm and the water is too, but doesn't the beach seem a bit crowded for a once seemingly deserted area?

Dude, it's cool, it's not the first time.

[He wouldn't get too far into it, but Yosuke doesn't seem to be bothered by it.]

Here, you're a little empty handed. Take it, there's more where that came from!

[He hands over part of his steak. In Citadel, there's no shortage of it.]

[Whoa-- double surprise. Waver looks up at him now, confusion evident in his eyes.]

Really? Are you sure? This stuff isn't that--

[Right. Location. Waver quickly shut his mouth, silencing any further complaints on the matter.]

...Thanks. [He said, delicately poking at the piece of meat with a fork.]

This place is more different than I had thought.

[punchesyu]

Well, living out on the plains or in a tree's gotta be a lot different than most other people. Sure, sometimes the work can be kind of a pain in the ass but that's just how it is.

[He stretches, a hand behind his head as he speaks. When is this tournament gunna start anyway, he's getting impatient. But he can still wait a little while longer.]

Come on bro, you never said where you were from!

[untalented]

I'm just travelling and seeing everything, [He said, cutting himself a small bite of the meat to try both out of curiosity and for politeness' sake.] Where I'm from doesn't really matter. I'm probably not going back.

[He had a feeling that, once he was satisfied, he wouldn't even want to go back. Travel had a way of changing people, but that wasn't anything to be afraid of.]

[punchesyu]

[He can't necessarily blame the guy for not wanting to go back. Maybe it just sucked there or something. Didn't seem like he wanted to talk about it.]

You're going around travelling? Dude, that sounds sweet. Where've you been so far?

[He's never really had the chance to leave Citadel (except for prompt #1...) so he's interested.]

Well, this is my first stop so far.

[A small shrug as he took another bite of the steak. He wasn't ashamed of being honest.]

...This is really good. What sort of meat is it?

[punchesyu]

Well, then you wouldn't mind if I showed you around then.

[He takes a bite of his own meat, chewing on it.]

Tastes like Bouffalant, I can tell by the seasoning they put on it. Tauros has a different texture to it too.

Do they? How interesting.

[Another bite. He really was enjoying the flavorings used in the cooking process more than he was letting on.]

I don't want to take you away from anything that you're doing, but I wouldn't mind having someone show me around. It's easy to get lost around here.

I wasn't doing anything after the tournament anyway but checking out more of the festival! Wouldn't want you falling off one of the bridges exploring the place.

[He gives a friendly elbow to Waver. He doesn't mean it! But. Can't help it.]

[Yeah, no. Please don't let him fall off of any bridges.]

...I'm actually kind of curious about the tournament too.

Well, it should be starting any minute now. Guess we got here a little early. Check it out, it's starting!

[Two Valkyrie enter the field, and Yosuke is practically drooling over one of them...]

Oh man, I didn't know she was fighting in the first round! What a beauty, those legs, that skin- she's so good she's never had a blade touch her!

[Swoon]

...Who is she?

[Even on non-sexualized terms, the woman was a sight to behold. Tall, with the toned muscles and rangey strength of a Rapidash, her athletic figure and unblemished skin were an impressive sight to behold.]

[punchesyu]

Only the most talented and beautiful Valkyrie this side of the plains! Watch, that other fighter isn't even going to be able to land a blow!

[He watches on excitedly when the woman he was cheering for delivers a strike to the other, executing moves that make her opponent seem like an amateur.]

See? How cool is that?

[untalented]

[Waver wasn't certain about what he should think, but the awe in his eyes when he watched the woman was as plain as the sun above them.]

She moves so gracefully, [he admitted in a soft tone, eyes wide as the Valkyrie blocked a strike from her opponent and retaliated with a vicious parry that was as terrifying as it was elegant.]

[punchesyu]

I know! Man, I'd kill just to get her autograph! [Because there is no way he's even daring to ask her for her contact information. He's not that crazy.]

Told you this was going to be totally sick! How are you liking it now that you're getting a glimpse of how Valkyries fight?

[untalented]

Its impressive, for sure.

[He was still watching the women with awe-struck interest while he spoke.]

I'm still not sure why this is 'hot', but there's no denying their skill.

[punchesyu]

Eh, maybe it's just a culture thing. Guess you'll just have to hang around here a while longer to really appreciate it.

[He happily pops some more of his lovely food in his mouth, not really thinking about what he said.]

Hm. Maybe.

[He bit off more of his meat, intently watching the women with an almost studious look in his eyes. Though this was a weird place, it couldn't hurt to learn everything he could about it.]
