TEST DRIVE MEME: JUNE + JULY EDITION

Welcome to bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are encouraged to use either first person or third person for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Refuge has opened its gates to the people of Union, Caldera and Citadel, in the most hospitable way they feel possible: A party. Some have come to explore the expansive underground city, but mostly, word has spread about how Refuge's brews are on point. They don't seem to discriminate on age, either.

#2 The city of Caldera is starting a major production project and they need workers. The forges are constantly going day and night and the pay's good, but it's hot, hard work that'll leave you tired and achy to say the least.

#3 The Summer Solstice festival has begun in Citadel. The tree is in full bloom, with flowers of every color dot its branches. This week-long celebration brings together the various tribes that call Citadel its home through music, dancing and, of course, fighting. There is a tournament set to begin, boasting some of the strongest Valkyries that Citadel has ever known among the combatants.

#4 The heat has really gotten to the people of Union, and as a result many have moved south for a weekend get-away in the Archipelago and the larger Island. The sand is warm and the water is too, but doesn't the beach seem a bit crowded for a once seemingly deserted area?

[Even more interesting, she was becoming madder. It would have to be his tendency to step on all the nerves that had Tsukasa make up a new name for her and lean in close.]

Are you sure you want me around?

N-Natsumikan?! Now just a moment! You don't get to call me by a nickname when we've just met! You're being too informal here! [...it probably doesn't help that it's still so cold here in Refuge that she's wearing her orange knit cap...]

[Chiaki starts to panic and patting on her arm. Mama, please don't get really mad! You're trying to be nice to him, remember?!]

[chaoticdrifting]

What? If I do end up at that place, we will be working together. [A lazy smile as he looked her over. She wasn't bad looking, just a little too temperamental.]

Right, Natsumikan?

[summerorange]

[Were it just the nickname being repeated, she wouldn't be tempted to use her basic move. But that look over on top of it...]

Tsukasa. [Her tone grew very firm as she sticks a thumb up.] Hikari Secret Technique...Laughing Pressure Point!

[And with that, she quickly jabs her thumb into the pressure point on the side of his neck. Enjoy that uncontrollable laughter, you jerk.]

[So that was a thing, wasn't it? He gasped for air even as he laughed, one hand clutching at his neck and the other trying to snag a hold of Natsumi, though at that point, he was just on the ground, laughing like an insane man.]

What... You... Natsumikan!

Don't you dare act like you're that familiar with me so soon! I'm not that kind of girl!

[Chiaki, the poor little Happiny, is just covering her eyes with her stubby arms, whimpering a little. Mama's so scary when she gets this mad...]

[chaoticdrifting]

That kind of girl? What is that suppose to mean?

[He was getting his wind back but he had decided to stay right where he was. Sure, he could probably get up, but then he would be a little too close to that thumb again and he really didn't like what it did to him.

Meanwhile his Purrloin was making a little kitty-ish laughing sound, her tail wiggling back and worth. It was always amusing the kind of discord her Trainer got into just by opening his mouth.]

[Natsumi's about to reply, but is prevented from doing so by her Happily.

And that's because said Happiny started crying from how scary-angry her mama is right now.]

Ah--Chiaki, please don't cry. I'm sorry I scared you. [Natsumi turns away as she attempts to soother her baby Pokemon.]

[chaoticdrifting]

[Nice floor. Safe floor. Tsukasa stayed right where he was, watching her deal with her crying Pokemon and then looked over at his Purrloin. He reached out and tapped the feline on the nose and then huffed.]

I guess I'm sorry.

[summerorange]

[Chiaki does calm down after a few moments of soothing from her "mother". At least, enough to where she's only hiccuping a little. Natsumi was just drying the little one's eyes with a handkerchief when she heard Tsukasa speak.

...so he actually has manners.] Well, I...I suppose I can forgive you...

[chaoticdrifting]

[Deca was chewing on his finger, the Purrloin's tail flicking back and forth. He glanced up at her and shrugged before going right back to playing with her.]

That's nice to hear. I'd hate to see Pokemon cry because of my big mouth.

[summerorange]

[She couldn't help but smile a little upon seeing that.] That's...that's good. Because we do handle photos of both Pokemon and humans.
