TEST DRIVE MEME: JUNE + JULY EDITION

Welcome to

bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are encouraged to use either first person or third person for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Refuge has opened its gates to the people of Union, Caldera and Citadel, in the most hospitable way they feel possible: A party. Some have come to explore the expansive underground city, but mostly, word has spread about how Refuge's brews are on point. They don't seem to discriminate on age, either.

#2 The city of Caldera is starting a major production project and they need workers. The forges are constantly going day and night and the pay's good, but it's hot, hard work that'll leave you tired and achy to say the least.

#3 The Summer Solstice festival has begun in Citadel. The tree is in full bloom, with flowers of every color dot its branches. This week-long celebration brings together the various tribes that call Citadel its home through music, dancing and, of course, fighting. There is a tournament set to begin, boasting some of the strongest Valkyries that Citadel has ever known among the combatants.

#4 The heat has really gotten to the people of Union, and as a result many have moved south for a weekend get-away in the Archipelago and the larger Island. The sand is warm and the water is too, but doesn't the beach seem a bit crowded for a once seemingly deserted area?

[Whoaaa, yep. He's out of it enough that he did not see her coming. He may even be startled enough to be broken out of his giggle fit and to ...phase right through her. And fall over.]

[She crouches, offering a hand. She's dressed something like this, which John may or may not recognize as Pretty Goddamn Calderan.]

[That is hella Calderan. He didn't get to see any of Caldera because he's been trapped in fucking Sanctuary this whole time, but he did hear about it a lot from the natives. Huh. It's a lot different from Union. He likes it!]

[He is a little frazzled though. The world just kind of flip-flopped around and it's all still kind of spinning.]

Holy shit. I'm sorry, there's like three hands in front of me, I'm just gonna grab one and hope for the best.

[He misses the first time but he gets her hand the second.]

[She laughs a little at him, shifting her hand into his grasp when he goes for the second time, and pulling him to his feet.]

There we go. Where are you staying? I'll help you get home.

[WHOOAAAA okay he is on his feet.]

Uh. That's a good question- I thought maybe I'd just go back home to Union but I didn't think their drinks would be so weird?? Wow, everything is kind of spinning!

That's because they're spirits. They have alcohol in them. Refuge believes in people of all ages enjoying the effects of spirits. Do you want to just stay with me for the night? There's a couch in my inn.

[Something wasn't right about that. What was it? Man it was hard to think. Everything was all whooshy and flippy.]

Yeah, that sounds pretty cool. I'll probably get eaten if I try to go home like this. Oh man, am I drunk? Is that what this is?

[Nope, still can't figure out what's Wrong about this scenario. Oh well. must not be important.]

[Shaking her head, she reaches out to hook her arm through his again.]

You are! Which is why you should probably come sit down.

[Oh, okay. You can do that.]

Sure, sitting sounds like a good idea. I love sitting.

[The Goomy, which has been watching this all with fascination sort of settles by his feet. His trainer is sick what is even going on anymore.]

[This child. She tugs him along to wherever it is that she's staying.]

[Yes, okay. He'll have a minor coniption over spending the night with a girl later. It's a little too much for his Union sensibilities. He's not a prude but he is a gentleman!!! Most of the time.]
