TEST DRIVE MEME: JUNE + JULY EDITION

Welcome to bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are encouraged to use either first person or third person for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Refuge has opened its gates to the people of Union, Caldera and Citadel, in the most hospitable way they feel possible: A party. Some have come to explore the expansive underground city, but mostly, word has spread about how Refuge's brews are on point. They don't seem to discriminate on age, either.

#2 The city of Caldera is starting a major production project and they need workers. The forges are constantly going day and night and the pay's good, but it's hot, hard work that'll leave you tired and achy to say the least.

#3 The Summer Solstice festival has begun in Citadel. The tree is in full bloom, with flowers of every color dot its branches. This week-long celebration brings together the various tribes that call Citadel its home through music, dancing and, of course, fighting. There is a tournament set to begin, boasting some of the strongest Valkyries that Citadel has ever known among the combatants.

#4 The heat has really gotten to the people of Union, and as a result many have moved south for a weekend get-away in the Archipelago and the larger Island. The sand is warm and the water is too, but doesn't the beach seem a bit crowded for a once seemingly deserted area?

( she stops dead in her tracks when she sees him turn and face her. it's years and years of knowing exactly how to tell apart two faces that could have been exactly the same. it's the posture. it's the expression on the face, rather than the features - and then it's the eyes, too, and they're entirely wrong.

she's already close now, if not close eneough to reach. Lan Fan slows down, expression going from shock to recognition to something far more tentative than that, far less guarded. )

You- ... you're back?

( like hope. there's no mistaking him, really. but the eyes-- )

Back?

[The look he's giving her isn't one of recognition. In fact, he's looking her up and down like a hawk. He even starts to lazily circle around her, hands coming out of his pockets to rest on his hips. His hands are dark as charcoal and end in sharp claws.]

Can't say we've met before, sweetheart. 'Sides, I'm not from around here.

[lanfan]

( she shifts with ease to keep him in her sights, taking the time to look him over.

the only conclusions she can draw make her want to scream. but there is no time for that. her metal hand flexes like a statement while she recovers her composure, posture and all, narrowing her eyes at him. )

You're right. It seems I mistook you.

Are you perhaps from Sanctuary?

[alldesires]

[He raises a brow at that. Something was going on here, though he wasn't sure what. But that was fine. It was about time something interesting happened.]

Who wants to know?

[Even as he says it he leans in to try and take her hand- or rather, her mechanical one. He wanted a closer look at that.]

[lanfan]

( she takes half a step back, pulls her hand away in the same motion. by now, the crowd milling all around gives them a bit of room to work with. something's obviously going on here. )

Lan Fan.

[alldesires]

[He's a little put out when she moves away before he can get a good look, but he doesn't push it, backing off and holding his palms up.]

Hey now, no need to be so touchy. I just wanted to see it. Lan Fan, you say?

[He crosses his arms.]

Name's Greed. An' what makes you think I'm from Sanctuary?

[lanfan]

( Greed. it fits- ... the person whose face he wears. that hurts, makes her even angrier, but she knows she must not let that show. instead, she keeps her voice flat, and doesn't take her eyes off him. )

It's where most Homunculi come from.
