TEST DRIVE MEME: JUNE + JULY EDITION

Welcome to bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are welcome to use either prose or brackets for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you. While not required, we also encourage you to take a look at the most recent AU Planning post.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Summer means it's time for a vacation! You and your Pokémon have hit the beach only to discover that not only has everyone else had the exact same idea, there's a bullying Raichu and Snubbull wandering around stepping on people's sandcastles! Will you stand up to them or let the squabble pass you by?

#2 A Noctowl has delivered you a message inviting you to enroll in Sanctuary's "Spoinkwarts School of Magecraft". How will you respond? If you say yes, you'd better head there for your supplies....it's doubtful you're able to buy cauldrons and Swellow-feather quills in Union.

#3 Perhaps it's time to beat the heat by heading to Refuge. But you've ventured there as evening is falling, and that can only mean one things: Zubats. Zubats everywhere. All at once. Suddenly. There is no escape, there is no release. There is only Zubat, and this cave.

#4 Aggron from the northern mountains have discovered Glacier music and are trying it out for themselves! Unfortunately, the only parts they've mastered are the grunting, yelling, and whipping their heads (and tails) around violently. Enjoy the concert!

#5 The Verdant Forest is full of pollen this time of year! And it looks like this Petilil that won't stop following you is allergic to....itself. It's also giving off pollen. Everywhere. Seriously, even if you don't have allergies, you're in trouble.

[Hi!

A pair of strong hands caught the young woman before she toppled over and fell into the stomping, flailing mess of the impromptu moshpit that was populated by pokemon and human alike. Someone on the ground could easily be trampled to death and no one would notice until after the concert was long over...

But, wasn't that kind of the point of death metal?]

Watch yourself, [he said, firmly holding onto her until she found her feet again. They were close enough that some women would think that he was coming onto them...though there was a certain crispness in his tone that indicated that he wasn't even close to thinking on that level.

Had their nigh intimate proximity not dawned on him at all?]

[ Doesn't seem to! Hasn't dawned on Kanade either! ] Ah, nice save. Thanks!

[ And she flashes him a thumbs-up from her position in his arms, then twists to break contact - in order to start watching the stage again. ] They're really feelin' it, huh?

[Oh, this girl was going to be trouble. Messer quietly trailed behind her, warding off other potential accidental assailants with a sharp look and a physically imposing presence. Rakish though he seemed, there was an intimidating gleam behind his eyes that made others pointedly steer clear.

Go take your moshing elsewhere-- he's got a lady to protect now.]

They really are. I'm surprised Caldera hasn't picked up on it yet.

[Referring to the music. The world wasn't prepared for the chaos that would ensue once Glacier and Caldera joined forces in their festivities.]

The big festival there's later this month, right? Might happen then.

[ She looks back to flash him a grin as an idea occurs to her. ] Wanna see what it's like on that stage?

[axiaflash]

[....No one was prepared for a meeting between Caldera and Glacier. The relative temperatures were at odds, but their taste in music was alike.]

...You're going to get trampled, [He said, casting her a look that totally said 'you're insane.'

But, he would also totally follow her if she went up there. Because she was insane.]

Spoilsport.

[ Yet a bad attitude from strangers in the crowd can't keep Kanade down! She starts working her way towards that stage. She has to squeeze in places, though. ] You keep - thinkin' the worst will happen - and you'll - guarantee it does.

[axiaflash]

[Reaper's gonna reap, and he wasn't nicknamed The Grim Reaper for nothing. Without further complaint, he followed her up towards the stage-- his blocks becoming more physical now.]

Somebody has to be a realist-- and sometimes a realist wants to be wrong.

[ Kanade shrugs. ] Pretty narrow - view of reality - ain't it...?

[ And there we go! Here is the stage. She vaults up and swings her hair out of her face - earning an approving look from the closest Aggron - and reaches down to offer Messer a hand. ] Live a little!

[axiaflash]

[Not when you're raining on someone's parade. Casting her a wry look, Messer vaulted himself onto the stage with little problem.]

I don't need you reminding me of that, [He said, clapping her on the shoulder before sidestepping a tail. At least the Aggrons were aware of their presence-- that was good.

....If only he knew how to play guitar. Hopefully this girl could sing.]

[ An enormous grin is his only response, and then Kanade's getting into the music. She won't sing right away - this is still the Aggrons' jam - but after jumping enough tails and working her way in with them, she ends up surrounded by them at the mic and yelling into it too. The Aggron are loving this. They're eating it up.

Pretty soon she's on one of their shoulders. ] Sing - out - with - usss!!

[ Her throat is gonna get hoarse but she doesn't care. The Aggron love that she has all that long red fur to whip around when she moves her head. Best human ever! ]
