TEST DRIVE MEME: JUNE + JULY EDITION

Welcome to bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are welcome to use either prose or brackets for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you. While not required, we also encourage you to take a look at the most recent AU Planning post.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Summer means it's time for a vacation! You and your Pokémon have hit the beach only to discover that not only has everyone else had the exact same idea, there's a bullying Raichu and Snubbull wandering around stepping on people's sandcastles! Will you stand up to them or let the squabble pass you by?

#2 A Noctowl has delivered you a message inviting you to enroll in Sanctuary's "Spoinkwarts School of Magecraft". How will you respond? If you say yes, you'd better head there for your supplies....it's doubtful you're able to buy cauldrons and Swellow-feather quills in Union.

#3 Perhaps it's time to beat the heat by heading to Refuge. But you've ventured there as evening is falling, and that can only mean one things: Zubats. Zubats everywhere. All at once. Suddenly. There is no escape, there is no release. There is only Zubat, and this cave.

#4 Aggron from the northern mountains have discovered Glacier music and are trying it out for themselves! Unfortunately, the only parts they've mastered are the grunting, yelling, and whipping their heads (and tails) around violently. Enjoy the concert!

#5 The Verdant Forest is full of pollen this time of year! And it looks like this Petilil that won't stop following you is allergic to....itself. It's also giving off pollen. Everywhere. Seriously, even if you don't have allergies, you're in trouble.

Well, you do have a choice, but that alternative wouldn't be terribly fun. Minami realizes that and isn't trying to push, she just wants the girl to understand she means the best.

"Very well, then," she says, and reaches out to pluck up the check. "If you don't mind?"

Aila eyed her for a few moments longer before sighing, and all but shoving the check into Minami's hands as she quickly looked the other way. She couldn't really look the other girl in the eye.

"Y-Yeah," she said, frowning deeply. "Thanks..."

Minami smiles a bit nervously, but it's pretty clear that the other girl wouldn't catch that, so she just begins to move back. "Just give me one moment, alright?" She passes an apologetic look to the girl's Pokemon before seeking out the nearest waiter.

She felt bad actually, even though she was helping. The very last thing she wanted to do would be to embarrass someone, so she's already trying to formulate a way to make up for that, in addition to helping with the check.

"... Yeah, sure," Aila replied, watching her walk off. Once she was gone, she turned towards Vanillite.

"Let's get out of here."

The Ice-Type's eyes widened, and then he glared at her. "Vanil!" he said, voice firm.

Aila grimaced. "Come on, she's taking care of it! There's no reason why I should stick around. It'd probably be just embarrassing for both of us."

"Vanillite!""

"But I already thanked her-!"

"Van. Ill. Ite."

Aila grew silent, and she just continued to stare at him for a few moments. Finally, she let out a frustrated sigh. "Fine!" she said, before leaning her head on her arm.

If Vanillite wanted her to stick around to thank this girl properly, it looked like Aila didn't really have any choice.

Minami returns soon after, none the wiser of the girl and her Pokemon's conversation. She's brightened up her expression even more, and hands the receipt over.

"There we go! You know, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Minami Kaidou - are you new around here, by chance?"

With Aila still facing Vanillite, Minami couldn't see the grimace on Aila's face as she returned. Nevertheless, she shot her partner a look, and turned back to Minami with an uneasy smile on her face.

"Thanks," she said, taking the receipt. "Minami Kaidou, huh? ... Yeah, I guess I sort of am. Um, that's not going to put you out, is it? I mean, helping me is one thing, but if it puts you in trouble..."

Hm. No name in return. It doesn't make Minami's smile falter, though she notes the uneasiness in the other girl's face. She certainly hopes she isn't doing anything upsetting, but then being put into this situation would make anyone a little uncomfortable, right?

"No, no. Of course not - there's no problem on my end!" She can afford it, but that would sound awful to say, so it doesn't really cross her mind to even do so. "I don't mind helping out, all I ask in return is that you try and be a little more careful."

It isn't quite admonishing, but there is a degree of seriousness she instills that last bit with. Shaming the girl isn't her intent, but Minami does still want to make the point, with a hope it's already sort of understood.

A little more careful. Most of the time Aila is pretty hostile towards attempts to lecture her, but in this case, it's hard to argue. So she just sighs, and nods her head for a moment.

"Yeah, sure," she said. "I won't. I just got... really carried away, I guess."

Because she didn't get a chance to eat like this very often.
