TEST DRIVE MEME: JUNE + JULY EDITION

Welcome to

bravenewworld's test drive meme! This post is designed to help players test out their characters within the setting, as well as give them an opportunity to collect samples for their future application. The prompts below are all optional, and can be used to get a feel for the game, but we encourage players to get creative and use this post however best suits their needs. Players are welcome to use either prose or brackets for their threads.

When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you. While not required, we also encourage you to take a look at the most recent AU Planning post.

THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Summer means it's time for a vacation! You and your Pokémon have hit the beach only to discover that not only has everyone else had the exact same idea, there's a bullying Raichu and Snubbull wandering around stepping on people's sandcastles! Will you stand up to them or let the squabble pass you by?

#2 A Noctowl has delivered you a message inviting you to enroll in Sanctuary's "Spoinkwarts School of Magecraft". How will you respond? If you say yes, you'd better head there for your supplies....it's doubtful you're able to buy cauldrons and Swellow-feather quills in Union.

#3 Perhaps it's time to beat the heat by heading to Refuge. But you've ventured there as evening is falling, and that can only mean one things: Zubats. Zubats everywhere. All at once. Suddenly. There is no escape, there is no release. There is only Zubat, and this cave.

#4 Aggron from the northern mountains have discovered Glacier music and are trying it out for themselves! Unfortunately, the only parts they've mastered are the grunting, yelling, and whipping their heads (and tails) around violently. Enjoy the concert!

#5 The Verdant Forest is full of pollen this time of year! And it looks like this Petilil that won't stop following you is allergic to....itself. It's also giving off pollen. Everywhere. Seriously, even if you don't have allergies, you're in trouble.

[All Might let's out a basso laugh as the the bully turned tail and fled. Then he glanced down at the little Venipede he had rescued and somehow managed to make his gleaming smile brighten even more.]

You have nothing to fear, little one. After all, I am here!

[He lifts Wormmon up and lets the little guy sit on his shoulder.]

Is that a better view for you? I can't imagine you could see much down there.

[ Oh, wow, this is far up. So useful! But so scary...

Wormmon clings to the side of All Might's neck, yet turns those sparkling eyes onto the crowd. This is much better...Thank you. Now just don't drop him... ] Veni veni....

[ Where is Ken-chan, though? ]

[All Might decides it might be best not to join back in with the concert so long as he has Wormmon riding on his shoulder. He doesn't want to shake things up even more when the little guy is already holding on for dear life.]

Now are you here by yourself or did you get separated from your friends?

Peeede. [ A single leg waves at the crowd. Somewhere out there is Ken-chan. It's kind of hard to see him because he is a child, though. And has a tendency to blend in with his surroundings...

....he shouldn't have said that. Ken-chan would get mad if he knew. Wormmon retreats again. ]

I see...

[He gives a grim nod at the response. Then gives the little pokemon a thumbs up.]

Have no fear. We'll track down your companion. Let's take a walk around and we'll just point give a sign if you see them, alright?

[ At first Wormmon thinks he must have heard wrong. It sounded like this human was going to help him. But the longer he thinks about it, the more certain he becomes of that fact.

Inching forward, he stares up at All Might with undisguised gratitude. And admiration. No one is ever this nice in Sanctuary. What a wonderful world this is! ] Veni!

[All Might's smile seems to shine all the brighter when he catches sight of Wormmon's expression.]

Think nothing of it, little friend. I'm just doing what I can to help.

[And so the two march off through the crowd. In search of this Pokemon's companion. Who All Might can only believe is just as pleasant as Wormmon.]

[ Wormmon scans the crowd worriedly. Ken-chan....Ken-chan....

Ah! ] Ve--

[ No, wait. That's just someone else from Sanctuary with the same (common) haircut. Wormmon droops. ] Pede.

[All Might sees Wormmon start to drop. He brings up one of his large fingers and pets the Venipede's head as gently as he can.]

Fret not, little friend. We'll find him, there's no reason to give up just yet!

[And he lets out a confident laugh. Turning in more exaggerated and confident ways. Hoping some of his cheer would rub off on his new companion.]

[ When Wormmon sees that finger coming, he flinches, expecting to be hit...so when he's petted instead, it's a pleasant surprise. He wibbles a little at All Might before turning those wobbly eyes back towards the crowd. ] Veni veni.

[All Might didn't let the concern show when Wormmon flinched as his finger drew close. ...It was a troubling reaction that he'd have to look into when he had a chance.

Instead he just chuckles.]

See now, it'll be alright friend. For I am here.

[Now... A plain looking fellow, that's what got Wormmon's attention that time. Keep an eye out for plain looking people. He can do this.]
