TESTRUN MEME

1) With spring fast approaching, Pokémon contests have become more prevalent, and stages have been cropping up all over Union. An open mic competition is being held in the park, and a trio of Jigglypuffs can be found taking the stage. Needless to say, they probably won't be a fan favorite...

2) Refuge has opened its gates to the people of Union, Caldera and Citadel, in the most hospitable way they feel possible: A party. Some have come to explore the expansive underground city, but mostly, word has spread about how Refuge's brews are on point. They don't seem to discriminate on age, either.

3) The great tree in Citadel is blooming a myriad of colors. The people are celebrating with a great festival among the various tribes that call Citadel and the surrounding area its home. This involves flower arranging, lots of meat, and, of course, a tournament to prove one's meddle in battle.

4) The city of Caldera is starting a major production project and they need workers. The forges are constantly going day and night and the pay's good, but it's hot, hard work that'll leave you tired and achy to say the least.

5) Wildcard! Come up with a prompt!

[Manners really don't matter when you've been working in a mine or on a forge all day. Fili couldn't care less.]

I can't. I'm taking another shift in two hours. I was going to grab some shut-eye and get started again.

[youngestone]

Fee, you've worked nonstop since we got home, and we're only home for a little while! Even Thorin's taken breaks!

[bornofstone]

[Fili shrugs.] Ma could use the extra coin. I don't mind.

[He stifles a yawn.]

[youngestone]

Extra money is why we joined uncle in Union in the first place.

[He starts sulking]

We came home to visit.

[bornofstone]

We came home to work. [He gives Kili a stern look.] We're not here to play, Kee.

[youngestone]

No, I remember the letter she sent us and it was "please come visit me" not "please work your ass off while you're here".

[bornofstone]

Kili... [But he has a point, and Fili knows it. He's wearing down from all this hard labor.]

[youngestone]

Yeah?

[Sulking. He knows he's right]

[bornofstone]

[Fili sighs and scrubs at his face.]

...Fine. Just for tonight.

[youngestone]

Ma won't like that.

[bornofstone]

I don't want to leave her with nothing, Kili.

[His voice is sharp, snappy. It's not like him to lose his temper, but he's exhausted and stressed.]

[youngestone]

That's why Thorin went to Union in the first place! And she has a job here, you know. It won't kill either of you for you to take a break!

[He hates it when Fili snaps at him, but he just snaps back]

[bornofstone]

And now we're all in Union and she's alone again! Why do you think it took me so long to come after you?

[youngestone]

[And he just sulks. He hates it when Fili gets mad and brings up what he's well aware of. He knows their mother is all alone, but she's the one who sent them off!]

[bornofstone]

[Fili lets out a long breath, forcing himself to calm down.]

...I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at you. It's not your fault.

[youngestone]

[Still sulking. He's really peeved]

[bornofstone]

[Which means that Fili's going to end up rambling and feeling like a horrible brother.

Again.

This happens a lot when he overworks himself.]

I'm just so tired. [He rubs at his face, letting out a quiet moan.] I want you and Ma and Thorin to have everything you need. If that means working a week straight, I'll do it.

[Another sigh.] But we haven't seen each other in three days because of it. And I guess that isn't exactly helping you. I don't know how to take care of you when I...when I...

[youngestone]

You're my brother, Fili.

[He gives him a sort of wounded look]

You don't need to take care of me. We're both Earthkin, we both have Pokémon and Uncle Thorin and each other. I can take care of you just as well as you can take care of me, you know.

[bornofstone]

Yeah, I guess that's true. [He leans against Kili, letting his head fall back against the wall.]

The last time I saw Dad, he told me to be good and to take care of you. [His voice is soft.] It was just one of those things you say when you walk out the door. But it was the last thing he ever said to me.

[youngestone]

[He chuckles]

Well, I took care of the "be good" part growing up, huh? [A pause] I just remember him hugging me. Ruffling my hair.

[bornofstone]

I wish he were here. [Fili's voice is just over a whisper. It's hard to tell if he's emotional or falling asleep. Probably both.] He'd take care of Ma better than we have.

[youngestone]

Hey, we did pretty good. ...okay, it was mostly Thorin, but either way.

[bornofstone]

[That earns him a chuckle.]

...I might fall asleep on you.

[youngestone]

[Kili playfully sighs and stands up]

C'mon, you weigh too much for me to be a pillow.

[bornofstone]

[Fili huffs at him, straightening up and reluctantly standing. He groans, stretching out.]

Ugh, I feel like an old man. Sore all over. [He stifles a yawn.] Ma needs a good bear hug. Let's go.
