When creating a thread, it is advised that players give their prospective thread partners a bit of information in the subject line, such as the characters name and canon, or a possible typing and Enlightened ability (if this is applicable). These are not required, but will make it easier for any prospective players to thread with you. While not required, we also encourage you to take a look at the most recent AU Planning post.
THIS CYCLE'S PROMPTS
#1 Summer means it's time for a vacation! You and your Pokémon have hit the beach only to discover that not only has everyone else had the exact same idea, there's a bullying Raichu and Snubbull wandering around stepping on people's sandcastles! Will you stand up to them or let the squabble pass you by?
#2 A Noctowl has delivered you a message inviting you to enroll in Sanctuary's "Spoinkwarts School of Magecraft". How will you respond? If you say yes, you'd better head there for your supplies....it's doubtful you're able to buy cauldrons and Swellow-feather quills in Union.
#3 Perhaps it's time to beat the heat by heading to Refuge. But you've ventured there as evening is falling, and that can only mean one things: Zubats. Zubats everywhere. All at once. Suddenly. There is no escape, there is no release. There is only Zubat, and this cave.
#4 Aggron from the northern mountains have discovered Glacier music and are trying it out for themselves! Unfortunately, the only parts they've mastered are the grunting, yelling, and whipping their heads (and tails) around violently. Enjoy the concert!
#5 The Verdant Forest is full of pollen this time of year! And it looks like this Petilil that won't stop following you is allergic to....itself. It's also giving off pollen. Everywhere. Seriously, even if you don't have allergies, you're in trouble.
#6 Wildcard! Come up with your own prompt!
If you have any setting questions, or want to do some reading before posting a thread, you can find the setting directory here! Happy tagging!

It doesn't make my feel any younger when whippersnappers go off and call me "Old Man".
[He pulls himself up so that he's at least sitting on the ground now.]
Depends are you on your Refuge or heading the other way?
no subject
[She didn't make a big show of being bothered by it, but that cough was worrisome. He needed a doctor to look at him...or something.
Medicine wasn't her field of expertise, but she knew enough to know when things were bad.]
Rover, [She called, her Magnemite coming out of the shadows to hover over the two of them.]
Could you go ahead of us, and make sure there's no more zubats in the way?
[Chirping softly in affirmation, the Magmemite went ahead. A single beam of light from it's eye shown in the dark, not terribly unlike a flashlight.
Pidge offered a hand to the man, to help him back on his feet.]
We're headed into Refuge. It's too far to get anywhere else, especially at this time of day.
no subject
[He couldn't help but chuckle a little bit when she started talking to her Magnamite friend. She called it Rover, that was adorable.
He reached up and took her hand. A moment later with a bit of effort he was back on his feet.]
Right, right. It's my first time over here, didn't know how close I was to the place.
no subject
[She put on a face, but it was all for the sake of banter. His unhealthy appearance aside, the man didn't speak like an old person-- and it made Pidge have all the more questions to ask at a later time.]
Anyway, we're really close, [she explained, fishing out her own flashlight and flicking it on, shining the beam on the path at their feet so they wouldn't trip over any stray rocks.] The people here are a little odd, and the food's plain, but they're friendly enough. Nice enough to understand how easy it is to get lost in these caverns anyway.
Just...don't chase after the litwicks. They're troublemakers.
no subject
[He couldn't even finish the sentence before he had to stop for another, more painful cough. His hand flew up to his mouth to hide a splash of blood he could feel coming up with the cough. The kid didn't need to see something like that.]
Really? Jeez, I was about to call it quits when I was almost there? That's embarrassing.
[He followed along, letting Pidge take the lead since she knew the way.]
Oh yeah? They can't be worse than a pack of Cubchoo. Now that's trouble.
no subject
[She was teasing-- but, that cough that rattled the stranger's lungs every time he tried anything was worrisome. They should probably get into town sooner rather than later, she realized, if his condition really was as bad as it sounded.]
Scout, [Pidge said, and a little Emolga popped it's head out of her baggy, oversized shirt at the cue. Still grinning-- although not as notably smug about it-- she gestured toward the man they had found.]
Stick with our friend, make sure he doesn't get lost. Rover, we're doing Plan B!
[The Magnemite stopped in an instant and turned around with a sharp buzz of acknowledgement before veering down a fork in the pathway. The Emolga, similarly, leaped across the distance to settle somewhere comfy in the man's disheveled hair.
Pidge looked over at him, seeming somewhat more serious than before.]
I know a short cut. It's a little tough, but it'll save us a good bit of time getting into town. There, we can find someone to feed you and check out that cough, okay?
Think you're up to it?
no subject
I think I still have a couple years left before I have to start worrying about something like that.
[His brow quirked in curiosity at the sudden change in plan. Why the heck was he getting stuck with the Emolga. He felt a bit of an urge to give his head a shake as Scout settled into his hair, but he'd never actually do such a thing.
He paused in his step at the sudden change in tone to their conversation. He felt a tinge of respect as he realized she was worried about him.
Still... He wasn't about to let up on the image he had set for himself. He gave a smirk and rolled up his sleeves.]
Yeah, no sweat. Though I'm pretty sure you'll give out before I do.
[He paused then glanced to her a little more seriously.]
Thank you, but I doubt there's much they can do for that. I've had it for awhile now.
no subject
[But the stranger's bravado was encouraging-- she believed that he wasn't about to just fall over like this. Not yet. She shined her flashlight down the path when they reached the branch in the tunnels, revealing the steep incline and the multiple stalagmites that peppered the passage.]
By the way, you can call me Pidge. It's silly to enter town like this without even exchanging names.
no subject
[He probably shouldn't tease the kid as much as he was. He liked her moxie, but he had to have his fun too.
When they reached the incline he gave a long hard glance. In his prime this would have been a cakewalk, maybe even fun. Right now it was looking pretty daunting. He could probably use what little of his strength he had left to scale it, but it would be wiser to save it in case something more dangerous popped up.
His train of thought was interrupted by her sudden introduction. He gave a grunt.]
Pidge, huh? Yeah, I can see that.
[She chirped just like a baby Pidgey after all.]
I go by Toshinori.
no subject
Toshinori? That's a nice name-- solid, easy to remember.
[Both traits were good to have in a memorable name.
But, seeing that flash of wariness in his gaze as he regarded the incline, Pidge couldn't just go through with the idea without making sure everyone was fully comfortable with it.]
You know, you can just tell me if this is too much. No hard feelings.
no subject
Yeah that's me, solid as a rock.
[He gave a flex mock flex of one arm and laughed. He looked more like a dried out twig about to snap in a breeze.
He toned down the bravado when heard her next comment.]
Look, we'll give it a try. If it ends up being too much we can always turn back, right?
no subject
[The substrate was deceptive to the eye-- the rocks were fairly smoothe, as if the whole passage had at one point been a part of a larger underground water system.]
...Maybe I should get Rover to stick near you, too.
no subject
I think you might be worrying a little too much there, kid. I made this far on my own, you know? I can handle this.
[He sighs and shrugs.]
But if it makes you feel better you're little friends can help along the way too.
no subject
All right. Rover can keep guiding us, then. Just...hold onto this.
[Clearly, this was a path she had used before, as there was already a rope anchored to a solid boulder and hidden amongst the scattered rocks in the dirt. Staggered throughout the length was a series of sturdy knots, for easier grasping.]
Rover knows Flash, but it can still get pretty dark in here.
no subject
A hint of a smile plays at the corner of his lips when he sees the rope. This kid was prepared, he'd give her that.]
Well that's certainly handy.
[He takes a hold of it and gives it a tug to make sure it's secure. Which it seems to be.
He then glances back to Pidge.]
Dark, spooky and slippery got it.
Do you want to go first or do you want me too?
[He had a feeling she'd want him to so she could keep an eye out on him while they went up, but he had to ask anyways.]
Oops-- lost this one!!
[If only because she already knew the way very well, and she would have an easier time troubleshooting if Toshinori took a slip.
Grinning confidently, she entered the narrow little passage, placing her heavy boots carefully on rocks that she knew to be sturdy-- at least, for her.]
Just try to go where I go...but, I've gotta warn you, I've never taken anyone else in here before.
[The rest of the warning remained unspoken in the air, but she didn't want to jinx it. Instead, she quietly hoped that his height and different center of gravity wouldn't do them in.]
You're forgiven!
[Toshinori watched carefully as Pidge took her first few steps into the passage way. Keeping an eye on each place she considered safe to step down on. The last thing he wanted to do was screw this up and put the both of them in danger. He had an ace up his sleeve if he needed it but he'd really rather not use it for a simple climb.]
Oh really? Guess I should feel really privileged then, shouldn't I?
[His eyes glanced between the Pokemon she had left to watch his back and the path of ahead of him.]
Well let's get this over with.
[And then he took put both his hands on the rope and started to follow along in Pidge's footsteps. He had to kneel down and take slightly more awkward steps to get through the tunnel but he was surprisingly well coordinated for someone so sickly.]
yay!
Just ignore the ghosts, [she warned, never taking her eyes off the path before them.] They're mostly harmless, but they like to trick people into following them and getting lost. Finding your way back can be a real pain if you're not familiar with these caves.
no subject
His eyes had just started to drift toward a couple of Litwicks when she gave her warning. Then his attention turned back stone path ahead of him.]
Between them and all the zubats I'm surprised anyone can find their way around here.
[He takes another hop toward the next stone. His landing is only off by a fraction but he feels his foot slip just a little. He quickly plants the other one down to steady himself and avoid tumbling. That wouldn't be a good thing to do right about now.
He gives a nervous laugh that mixes with a cough.]
It's okay. I'm okay.
no subject
...Except maybe the locals. They've lived with these guys for forever.
no subject
[What a cheeky kid. He'll manage to return that grin with one of his own. When she turns back she'll notice he's sweating pretty hard but still managing to keep up the same pace he had started with.]
I can think of worse roommates than a bunch of zubats and litwicks. Though the locals may be a cooky themselves if they've put up with them for so long.
no subject
Darn right they're kooky. Some of them are so chill that I just don't get how they can do anything.
[Because, seriously. While she understood that the zen-like practices had taken generations to form and were well appreciated for many people, she had far too much energy to just sit and meditate like that.
Casting a look over her shoulder, she offered a smile.]
We should be there soon. Then you can find out for yourself, and see what you think.
